New York Magazine’s Winter wedding guide is now on newsstands, and features two of my articles. The first is a piece on negotiating contracts before the big day and was a total crash course in wedding planning. The second involved breaking down the costs of a blow-out wedding. The bride, planners, and decorators were kind enough to annotate nearly every cent that was spent on the event for me. Phew.

Out today: my cover story in the Washington Post District Extra about an innovative teen pregnancy prevention program that’s just arrived in D.C.
The program takes an “above the waist” approach – incorporating arts classes, mental health sessions, job skills training, lifetime sports, medical care, and of course, sexual education into the model. It lasts from fifth grade through high school, and it’s proven to cut the rate of pregnancy in it’s participants in half. This is especially timely, as the cover of today’s Post also has a story about the 3% rise in teen pregnancy in the past year, the first time there’s been an increase in the past 14 years.
